Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will host Ohio University for a doubleheader on March 10 at Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The matchup is notable as it marks the first-ever meeting between the Governors and the Bobcats. The games are part of Austin Peay’s midweek schedule and provide both teams with an opportunity to build momentum early in the season.
Ohio enters the doubleheader with a 3-13 record under first-year head coach Andrew See. The Bobcats were picked to finish 11th in the Mid-American Conference preseason coaches poll, ahead of UMass. Austin Peay holds a 2-1 home record this season after winning a three-game series against Eastern Michigan in February and currently stands at 7-8 overall through four weeks of play. Last weekend, the Governors split a four-game series with Utah Tech, highlighted by junior Ty Wisdom’s three home runs and five runs batted in.
Pitching for Austin Peay will be redshirt senior Chance Cox in game one, who has a 0-1 record and a 13.91 earned run average over three starts this season. Junior Elijah Underhill is scheduled to start game two, entering with a 7.36 ERA across four relief appearances.
Fans can listen to live coverage on ESPN Clarksville 104.1 FM or via the TuneIn app, with Van Stokes providing play-by-play commentary throughout the weekend. The games will also be streamed on ESPN+, featuring Alex Gould for game one and Ethan Schmidt for game two.
