Austin Peay State University’s beach volleyball team will conclude its regular season with the Austin Peay Invitational, a two-day event featuring four matches at the Atkins Family Beach Volleyball Facility, according to an April 9 announcement.
The tournament provides the Governors an opportunity to prepare for postseason play while honoring their senior players. The event begins Friday with matches against Southwest Baptist at noon and Eastern Illinois at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Austin Peay faces Missouri State at 8 a.m., followed by a Senior Day match against Tennessee Tech at 4 p.m.
The Governors will recognize six seniors prior to their final home contest against Tennessee Tech. In their previous outing, Austin Peay went 2-2 in the Austin Peay Classic, securing wins over McKendree and Tennessee Tech.
Among the visiting teams, Southwest Baptist enters with a record of 4-14 but is on a three-match winning streak. Eastern Illinois holds a record of 2-8 and recently defeated Tennessee Tech. Missouri State stands out with a strong season performance of 17-3 overall and remains undefeated in Conference USA play; all three losses have occurred on the road. Tennessee Tech’s most recent game was also against Austin Peay during last weekend’s Classic.
Following this invitational, Austin Peay is set to compete in the ASUN Beach Volleyball Championship from April 22 through April 24 at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
