Austin Peay State University’s women’s tennis team lost 4-0 to Louisville on April 11 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The match marked Austin Peay’s first contest against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent for the 2026 season.
The Governors started doubles play with a loss to Alice Otis and Lika Persypkina. However, one Austin Peay pair secured a win over Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos after taking a decisive tiebreaker, but the team was unable to clinch the overall doubles point as they fell in another close tiebreak at the number one position.
In singles play, Austin Peay could not field a player for the sixth position and defaulted that point to Louisville. The Cardinals then extended their lead with straight-set wins in both the fourth and fifth singles positions. Matches at positions one through three went unfinished as Louisville reached four points to secure victory.
The loss concludes Austin Peay’s regular season schedule. The Governors now turn their attention to postseason play, where they will face No. 5 North Alabama as the #4 seed in Fort Myers, Florida, on April 16 at 11:00 a.m., beginning with a quarterfinal matchup following a first-round bye.
