On June 17, 2022, a funeral was held at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for Police Service Dog K9-Sabre.
K9-Saber passed away on June 7th from a non-duty-related medical condition.
Sabre, a German Shepherd served the citizens of Montgomery County with valor for nearly five-years and was assigned to Deputy Potter.
Attendees from multiple agencies came to show their respects. At times, holding back tears.
Members of the K9 Unit spoke in remembrance of Sabre. A few light laughs were shared about Sabre’s journey to his given name.
“This is truly a sad day for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. I have said it before and it remains the same, our Office’s K9 Unit is unmatched and it’s level of commitment is seen in the way they handle tough calls day-in and day-out. Our hearts go out to the K9 Unit and Deputy Potter,” said Sheriff John Fuson.
We truly appreciate all those who were able to join today, as well as, those who sent their prayers our way.
