Longtime Sheriff’s Office Leader and Mentor Bids Farewell to Friends and Co-Workers

On June 29, 2022, Sheriff John Fuson honored the service of Retiring Captain John Stone during a ceremony held among friends and co-workers at the Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Stone, retd. Began his law enforcement career and serving Montgomery County, as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in 1989. He found a calling and passion in law enforcement and hired onto the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, in 1992, as a Patrol Deputy.

Stone, a consummate professional, promoted into the Criminal Investigations Division, where he would spend a great portion of his career seeking truth for victims of crime through his investigative prowess.

Through his time spent in criminal investigations, he continued to excel in his craft, graduating the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, becoming the Bomb Squad Commander for Tennessee Homeland Security District Seven, Commander of Internal Affairs, promoting to the rank of lieutenant, and completing his tenure with the rank of captain and the Professional Standards Bureau Commander.

Of all the things, Stone was best known for his words of wisdom and willingness to listen. He will truly be missed and his good works will be remembered for decades to come.

Congratulations on your retirement Captain Stone. We wish you and your wife Patricia much joy and happiness.
