On August 16, 2022, Sheriff John Fuson held a Recognition Ceremony to honor two deputies assigned to our Detention Services Bureau and one of our contract nurses.
Deputy James Kehoe, Deputy Nathan Kinn, and Nurse Kayla Harvey were all collectively instrumental in foiling an inmate’s attempt at self-harm on July 16, 2022.
The inmate attempted to jump from the top tier of an inmate housing area. Deputy Kinn spotted the inmate jump attempt and was able to momentarily secure the inmate from falling full force to the bottom floor. This provided valuable seconds needed to Deputy Kehoe to position himself under the inmate to catch him and break the fall. Nurse Harvey, being situationally aware, immediately went to the aid of both deputies; using one of their police radios to call for backup while the event was taking place.
Sheriff Fuson thanked Dep. Kehoe, Dep. Kinn, and Nurse Harvey for their quick thinking and reaction, which prevented significant harm coming to the inmate.
Fuson presented each with a Certificate of Recognition and the Office challenge coin. The certificate stated, “It is your professionalism to your craft and the citizens of Montgomery County that brings great credit to you and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.”
We are mighty proud of the work our deputies in the Detention Services Bureau do. These staff are very worthy of this recognition! Kudos!
