Austin Peay State University Dugout Dish – A not so spooky Halloween tradition

Coming off a 2022 season where the Governors posted their third 30-win season, over the last four non-COVID seasons, Austin Peay State University's softball team heads into the 2023 season with high expectations and a work ethic to match. This is 'Dugout Dish' a blog where each student-athlete on the team takes an opportunity to write a post highlighting the goings on of the squad, beginning with fall training and continuing all the way through the regular season.

Hi, Govs! I'm Kylie Campbell and I'm a sophomore catcher/utility.

My hometown is Ninety Six, South Carolina; Ninety Six is roughly seven and a half hours from Clarksville.

My major is agriculture with a minor in business, and I plan to be a farm consultant.

Our team has a tradition of going to the pumpkin patch every fall, so we kept the tradition going this past Sunday.

It is such a fun time for the whole team to get to know each other off the field. We got all dressed up and enjoyed walking around the pumpkin patch in the beautiful fall weather!

A mandatory team picture is taken at the pumpkin patch, and somehow, we manage to squeeze all of us on Boyd's Pumpkin Patch trailer. I had so much fun and cannot wait until we do it again next year!

We also did Operation Honor!

It is a great event that Austin Peay hosts to help all past and current military personnel and their families; there are boxes composed of food and personal care items given to every family.

Since Fort Campbell is so close to our campus, we get the opportunity to meet so many of the men and women that serve our country. I couldn't wait to see all the gracious smiles after giving back to the community!

Go Govs!
