Tennessee Wesleyan University Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season with Senior Day Win

It was Senior Day for the women's soccer team on Saturday. The team hosted the Columbia College Koalas for the celebration and final game of the regular season.

Through the first 15 minutes of action, the play was dominated by the Lady Bulldogs. The team saw shots from Lauryn Smith, Jill De Waal, and Krista Eik Hardardottir along with corner kicks by Cristina Escrig. Columbia got a few shot attempts in, but they were stopped by Laia Roch Font or the defense forced them off target. Even though the offense for TWU stayed attacking through shots by Maggie Aird, Jordan Smith, and Hardardottir, a goal did not appear for the team, sending the game into halftime scoreless.

In the second half, the first goal of the game occurred in the opening two minutes. It was scored by Hardardottir and assisted by De Waal. A second goal did not cross the line for the Lady Bulldogs in the game. Fortunately for Tennessee Wesleyan, Columbia did not score, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 1-0 victory in the regular season finale.

The win moved the team's record to 12-4 overall and 10-2 in the AAC.

Up next for TWU is the AAC Tournament, where the team will open play as the No. 3 seed and host the No. 6 seed, Columbia College, on Saturday.
