Today, Patrick McHenry, the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, announced that French Hill has been chosen by the House Republican Steering Committee to lead the House Financial Services Committee as its next Chairman. Hill currently serves as the Committee Vice Chair and Chair of the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusion.
McHenry expressed his support for Hill's selection, stating: “Congratulations to my longtime ally and current Committee Vice Chairman French Hill on being selected as the next Chairman of House Financial Services Committee.” He highlighted Hill's extensive experience in both the private sector and government roles, including his work at the Treasury Department. McHenry added that Hill's leadership in spearheading initiatives like FIT21 demonstrates his capability to guide the committee effectively.
He further noted: “With French Hill at the helm, Republicans will build on our work from this Congress to finally enact a clear regulatory framework and robust consumer protections for the digital asset ecosystem.”
McHenry also acknowledged other candidates who were considered for the position, emphasizing their value to the committee: “The quality of candidates in the race to lead this Committee underscores the embarrassment of riches we have on the Committee. I’m certain Congressmen Barr, Huizenga, and Lucas will continue to be valuable leaders for years to come.”
He concluded with confidence in Hill’s ability to lead: “Chairman-designate Hill is the right person to guide this talented group of lawmakers, and I know the Committee is in good hands.”
