The Lee University softball team dropped both games of the double header to Saint Leo University on Saturday afternoon. Both games finished with a 4-0 final score in favor of the Lions. With the two losses, Lee falls to 6-16 on the season and has lost seven straight.

GAME 1

Javaria Smith got a single in the first inning when she sliced one right past the pitcher. That would end up being the only hit until the seventh inning for Lee. In the bottom of the first, Saint Leo loaded the bases on three straight singles, but Madison Barnett forced three straight outs for Lee to get out of the jam.

The Lions got on the board in the bottom of the second. SLU hit two singles and then Bayley Williams doubled to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. SLU had a single in the third but the runner was left stranded.

SLU added two more runs as Williams drive in two more with a single in the bottom of the fourth. Saint Leo had a walk in both the fifth and sixth innings but left the runners there. Alexa Scalzo had a single but that was it.

Lee only had two hits and 13 strike outs in game one. Saint Leo had nine hits and four strike outs in game one.

GAME 2

Neither team was able to get going in the first inning. Sidney Lee led the second inning off with a double, but the Lady Flames went down in order after that. In the top of the third, Annalyn Ormsby got on base with a single and then stole second but was left on base as well.

Rylie Goodridge had a single in the fourth but was left stranded. Saint Leo scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth after two errors got runners on base and then three hits brought the runners' home.

In the top of the fifth, Kylie Bohl and Ana Macha both got hits but no one else could get on base. Saint Leo added their fourth and final run in the bottom of the sixth when they got a base runner and they used a couple of ground outs and a sacrifice to score the run.

Lee had five hits and struck out five times in the game. SLU only managed four hits but were able to score four runs.

Lee will return to action Sunday, March 12 at 12 PM in the series finale against Saint Leo.
