WASHINGTON—On May 2, Rep. Mark Green released the following statement about Democrats’ bold-faced lie regarding The Limit, Save, Grow Act’s effect on veterans: 

“I have spent my career in Congress fighting for veterans. Since I was sworn into office, I have focused on getting veterans the health care they need, improving housing and accommodations, and ensuring Gold Star families have continual support. To suggest that I would vote for a bill that undercuts veterans’ benefits is outrageous." 

"As the voice for thousands of veterans, servicemembers, and their families, I will always have their back. I voted for the Limit, Save, Grow Act to curb the Biden administration’s out of control spending and to save hard-earned taxpayer dollars—$4.8 trillion of wasteful spending over ten years. Best of all, this legislation does not cut the defense budget or veterans’ benefits by a single penny. It is extremely unfortunate that instead of coming to the negotiating table, Democrats are lying about what this bill contains. This is politics at its worst.”

Green continued: “The Biden administration’s reckless spending has thrown our economy into chaos. Inflation, supply chain shortages, and instability in our banking system are hurting American families. That’s why House Republicans put forward a sensible debt ceiling increase—one that also looks to the future."
